This is an exciting time in the continuing development of TRU. The University is a member of the Research Universities’ Council of British Columbia, and the integration of research, creative practice, and innovation into teaching and learning in over 40 degree options and 50 diploma and certificate programs is a priority. Currently TRU has an on-campus student population of approximately 13,000 and enrolls a further 20,000 students in open and distance education with courses and programs through its Open Learning (OL) division. TRU world class international programs welcome 1700 students each semester from more than 80 countries. 

Thompson Rivers University School of Nursing is at an exciting stage of growth with the development of a Master of Nursing program as well as seeking opportunities to meet the educational needs of the Nursing and healthcare system.  Currently, TRU School of Nursing offers a BScN in nursing on our Kamloops campus.  Our Williams Lake campus offers students the first 2 years of the BScN program with the students then transitioning to their final two years at the Kamloops campus.  TRU School of Nursing also offers program for Practical Nursing and Health Care Assistant programs.

The School of Nursing seeks applications for two dynamic tripartite tenure track positions beginning on August 1, 2015.  The ideal candidates will have experience in teaching, research and clinical practice. Particular areas of expertise that would be preferred include chronic disease, mental health, caring for adult in hospital and community and aboriginal nursing. The successful candidates will teach theory and practice courses, have a developed program of research and engage in service to the University/Community.


·      PhD or other doctorate required, consideration may be given to doctoral candidates who will complete their degree by the appointment date or shortly thereafter;

·      Holds a minimum of one (1) degree in nursing;

·      Three (3) years' full time or equivalent hours of nursing experience;

·      Demonstrated continuous learning in the field of expertise;

·      Teaching/theoretical and practice education experience preferred;

·      Demonstrates evidence of a program of scholarship/research;

·      Demonstrates dissemination of research through peer review publications and conferences;

·      Demonstrates successful funding for research;

·      Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills;

·      An understanding of, and experience in, the Canadian healthcare system; and

·      Current CRNBC registration in good standing without limits or conditions, or eligibility for registration with CRNBC. Must provide registration number and proof of practice experience when applying.
